Applications for Wireless Mesh
Networks:
Industrial Monitoring
The Sensicast Wireless Sensor Networking Platform provides
a cost effective solution for monitoring the state of manufacturing
and industrial processes. A WSN supplements existing control
facilities by allowing for the measuring of manufacturing
properties that with other "legacy" systems that
would be cost prohibitive to retrofit into an existing facility.
Examples of using the Sensicast Wireless Network include
the monitoring of motor vibration, and temperature for determining
whether a machine is running optimally.
Industrial Motor Condition-based
Monitoring
Electric motor energy consumption accounts for 23% of all
energy use in the United States and 62% of industrial electricity
usage. Currently, only the largest, most critical motors are
monitored. Leveraging Sensicast's Sensor Networking Platform
with the SensiNet™ Networking Protocol for use in industry's
typical high multi-path RF environment, it is possible to
provide an economic solution for wirelessly monitoring motor
operating core temperature - for all classes of motors, creating
an enormous opportunity for energy and cost savings.
Building Controls
Wireless Mesh Networks are is ideally suited for retro-fit
building control applications. Indoor Air Quality monitoring
of gasses such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide can lead
to better ventilation and greater energy savings. Customers
may even ventilate based upon the estimated number of personnel
within a building (based on the CO2 levels within specific
rooms of the building. Most other building controls can also
leverage the power and flexibility of the SensiNet network
through simple integration with additional nodes.
Valuable Asset Security
Extending high-value monitoring of assets into institutions
of various types, Sensicast's OAS can be used to monitor valuable
items that might not be continually "protected",
including assets in storage or in inventory, assets in public
areas, AV equipment in rooms of universities and colleges
and computers.
Perimeter Security
A mesh network supports dry contact sensors (similar to relays
- off or on) for the least expensive way to reliably install
a perimeter security system. For door and window sensors,
PIRs, glassbreak sensors and more, enhancing your existing
system or installing a new SensiNet system will provide you
the fastest and least expensive way to get the job done.
OEM Products
We can provide OEMs the most reliable radio connectivity
through OEM100 and OEM200 modules. OEM modules support the
SensiNet™ Networking Protocol, specifically designed
for the crowded and harsh radio environments of the real world.
OEMs can be assured of seamless integration with existing
building and industrial protocols and systems with Sensicast's
SensiMesh Software and Gateways. Combined, they provide the
monitoring and maintenance functions for your mesh network.
