Circus Clowns, Heart Surgeons, and 'B' vs. 'G'
I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a break from politicking around Hurricanes and all those helpless hurricane victims.
Plus I'm also tired of hearing about rising oil prices and the energy crisis.
And I could use a break from all the flu pandemic chatter.
So I ain't talking about any of those things today.
But... there is one bit of controversy you might like to hear about: An Italian medical study shows that having a circus clown in the operating room calms little kids down before surgery. But wouldn't you know it, doctors and nurses are upset. "The majority of the staff was opposed to continuing the program because of perceived interference with the procedures of the operating room," says the report.
Don't you think the docs are just jealous? After all, can you think of anything stuffier than an operating room doc? So next time you're in for some surgery, tell your doc he could get some bedside manner tips from a circus clown. (Please, wait til after your surgery is done...)

If you're shopping for industrial serial servers, you need to pay attention to the "G" and the "B". Let me explain. "B" is an 11Mbps channel, G is 54Mbps. 54 Meg G is backwards compatible with 11 Meg B devices. It negotiates its data rate down to a B level.
Please Note! If you have a "G" infrastructure, and add a "B" node, it may slow the entire network down. So, while your serial device may care less whether it's 9600 baud data is traveling over an 11Mb or 54Mb channel, the other stuff on that network will have to work at a reduced performance level. If in doubt, get "G."
